Jumeni is a growing waste collection platform in Accra that connects households and business with waste collectors, making waste disposal convenient, reliable, and affordable. We service over 300 customers within Accra. We’re on a mission to make waste collection easy and hassle-free for every Ghanaian.
The Role
We’re looking for an organized and hands-on Operations Specialist to serve as the primary point of contact for our waste collectors. You’ll be the bridge between our field operations team and the rest of the organization — managing waste collector relationships, ensuring pickup data is accurately documented, dispatching on-demand pickups, and keeping operations running smoothly.
This role is a mix of remote coordination and occasional field presence. You’ll sometimes need to meet waste collectors or visit customer sites, so comfort with waste and sanitation environments is important.
What Success Looks Like in This Role
- All pickup reports from waste collectors are collected and accurately documented in Google Sheets
- On-demand pickups are dispatched quickly and efficiently to the right collectors
- Waste collectors feel supported and have clear information about their pickups
- Issues like missed pickups or customer concerns are routed to the appropriate teams promptly
- Field operations run smoothly with strong coordination between collectors and internal teams
Key Responsibilities
1. Waste Collector Coordination & Communication (35%)
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all waste collectors
- Maintain regular communication with collectors to receive pickup reports
- Provide collectors with clear information about their scheduled pickups
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the collector network
- Occasionally meet with waste collectors or visit customer sites — comfort with waste and sanitation environments is part of the role
- Forward collector requests, concerns, or issues to the appropriate internal teams
2. Data Collection & Documentation (30%)
- Collect and accurately enter daily pickup reports into Google Sheets
- Verify completeness and accuracy of collection data
- Maintain organized records of all collection activities
- Ensure data is ready for processing by other teams
3. Issue Resolution, Dispatch & Coordination (25%)
- Dispatch on-demand pickup requests to available waste collectors based on location and availability
- Receive and act on customer issues (e.g., missed pickups) and coordinate resolutions with collectors
- Follow up on service disruptions and communicate updates back to internal teams
- Facilitate smooth information flow between field operations and office teams
4. General Admin Support (10%)
- Assist with administrative tasks and ad hoc support as they arise across the team
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in operations, coordination, logistics, customer service, or related roles
- Exceptional attention to detail—accuracy is critical when documenting pickup data
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English, Pidgin, and Twi
- Comfortable with technology: spreadsheets, mobile apps, WhatsApp, phone calls
- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks and schedules simultaneously
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with little supervision
- Reliable internet connection and laptop for remote work
- Flexible availability: Schedule varies based on collection operations — availability at different times of the day is required
- Comfortable with waste and sanitation environments — field visits to waste collectors and customer sites are part of the role
Nice to Haves:
- Experience in logistics, field operations, or coordination roles
- Familiarity with Accra neighborhoods
- Previous experience working with field teams
- Basic Google Sheets skills
- Experience with dispatch or scheduling operations
